Zack Leader of Gridline Ellison Gearbolt Racing has defended his 2016 title and become the 2017 British Gravity Bike Evolution Cup Champion after taking the Evo Cup victory at Priors Marston for Round 5 of the 2017 Championships. He defeated Sam Phillips, riding for Honey I Shrunk The Biker.

Leader took his 4th straight Evo win of the season, maintaining his 100% Evo Cup win record in 2017. The 18-year-old from Kirton Lindsey took his 2nd British title after what can only be described as a hectic and dramatic day of racing in the Warwickshire village.

Shortly after winning his title, Leader announced he would not compete in the Evolution Cup class after 2017, saying "It is time somebody else is given the chance to take the Evo Cup title. I've made my point and now I need to fully focus on winning BGBC titles, and my future in racing".

"It's an incredible feeling to defend the title, but I can't celebrate for too long at the moment, I still need to put my full focus into winning the main title, that is much more important to me now!"

The British Gravity Bike Championships continue this Sunday 16th July in Worlaby, North Lincolnshire.
