Zack Leader has re-signed for world title winning Australian based outfit 'GravityBike HQ' for the 2019 season, despite what Leader himself describes as a "disappointing but eye opening" 2018 campaign. Leader will once again race alongside now 3-time world champion Brett Phillips and will compete both in UK races, as well as the Gravity Bike World Championship. Leader has also left the door open to competing in other races across Europe.
Leader achieved three 3rd place finishes and one 4th place finish for the team in the UK this year, as well as 9th place at this year's Gravity Bike World Championship in Teolo, Italy. However believes that he's learnt a lot this season and will use all of that knowledge for the 2019 season.
"It's been s difficult one but it's sure as hell opened my eyes and made me realise where I've been going wrong for a few years and although I don't believe we've made a step backwards in all areas, we have done in some key ones and that's the areas we're going to develop and work on for 2019".
"I really was unsure about carrying on with the sport past this season if I'm really honest. I had doubts and for a good few months was looking elsewhere and to other places to try and develop myself further in racing and I was feeling a bit deflated for a good chunk of the season. However, racing in Italy really did bring that spark back that I'd been searching for in gravity racing for the first part of this season and now I just want to go out and win everything!"
"However, I'm fully aware it won't be easy. There's a lot of tough competition and there's a lot of work that needs to be done. But I have started enjoying my racing again because I lost that enjoyment before Italy if I'm honest. That's also not to say that I'm not looking elsewhere in racing too because I am and I want to make the step into motorsport in 2019 if I can. We'll see what the winter brings".
Leader will now spend the off season developing his bike and himself as a rider before picking up where he left off for the 2019 gravity bike season.
