EVO CUP: Gearbolt 1-2 As Leader Wins Again

Zack Leader continued his Evolution Cup class dominance last Sunday at Worlaby for Round 6 of the 2017 British Gravity Bike Championships. The reigning 2017 champion took his 5th consecutive Evo Cup win at his home race, finishing ahead of his team mate and rider, Joe Thompson, making it a 1-2 finish for the Gridline Ellison Gearbolt Racing team.

Leader struggled to find pace during the morning's practice sessions, finding issues with his bike, complaining of front end and then rear end issues. It seems that he fixed the issues from Race 2 onwards as he set sub-minute runs, personal bests for the 18-year-old. It was Joe Thompson who lead for the majority of the day, but an eleventh hour flyer from Leader found himself back in front of the Evo's.

Thompson, making his debut to gravity bike racing, impressed both fellow riders and spectators alike after setting sub-minute runs right from the get go and found himself at the front of the overall pack early on. Despite other riders picking up pace and setting record breaking runs, Thompson rode string and brought his Gridline Ellison Gearbolt bike into 2nd in the Evo's.

Sam Phillips on the Honey I Shrunk The Biker machine rode to very impressive 3rd in the Evo's, just missing out on a sub-minute run.

The boys are back in action for the final time in 2017 at Harewood for Round 7 of the 2017 British Gravity Bike Championships on Sunday 20th August 2017.
